Vertiv and Cybastion have signed a new MoU to pursue digital infrastructure Africa opportunities across Morocco, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Chad, and Gabon. This agreement brings together Vertiv’s expertise in data-centre power and cooling with Cybastion’s relationships in government-led digital transformation programs.
While the companies did not announce a specific investment amount or timeline, the MoU establishes a framework for identifying projects where their capabilities overlap. The partnership arrives as African governments shift from announcing digital strategies to building the physical systems needed to support them.

Boosting Digital Infrastructure Africa
The combination could allow Vertiv to enter projects earlier, particularly where national programs require both technical expertise and local government relationships.
Zineb Kamri, regional director for Northwest Africa at Vertiv, noted that customers are increasingly seeking infrastructure providers that integrate into broader national digitalization programs rather than operating as standalone vendors.

Morocco is likely to be a key market for this collaboration. Vertiv previously signed an MoU with Morocco’s Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform to support digital infrastructure, cloud computing, and AI, including discussions regarding a 50MW sovereign data centre in Rabat.
The Shift in Technology Demands
The timing of the partnership reflects a wider shift in the continent’s technology market. AI and cloud workloads require substantially more power than traditional services, creating demand for resilient, high-density infrastructure.
Vertiv has been positioning its regional business around these requirements, specifically focusing on AI-ready data-centre designs. Cybastion’s focus on sovereign infrastructure adds another dimension, emphasizing government control over critical digital systems.
Strategic Impact for Regional Growth
This deal focuses on connecting global engineering expertise with local access to government-led initiatives. For countries investing in cloud, AI, and digital public services, this partnership helps shorten the path between strategy and implementation.
For technology companies, the move highlights a growing market around the physical layer of the digital economy.
As more nations build data centres and sovereign cloud systems, demand will continue to grow for the power, cooling, and security systems that keep those facilities running.
The next step for Vertiv and Cybastion will be identifying specific projects across their target markets where they can jointly participate.
