The latest expansion builds on nearly two years of successful deployments across Lagos, where Liquid Intelligent Technologies has installed almost a dozen Taara Lightbridge wireless optical communication links.
The infrastructure distributes high-capacity bandwidth from Africa Data Centres and other major carrier-neutral facilities to enterprise customers located both within and outside existing fibre coverage areas.
The deployment is strengthening connectivity for a wide range of organisations, including ISPs, financial institutions, hotels, utility companies, and large enterprises. Nigeria's rapidly expanding digital economy has significantly increased demand for reliable infrastructure.
Overcoming Fibre Deployment Challenges
Deploying fibre networks in densely populated urban areas often presents significant challenges. These include construction costs, permitting requirements, congested infrastructure corridors, and the frequent occurrence of fibre cuts.

The technology supports speeds of up to 20Gbps across distances of up to 20 kilometres. This enables telecommunications operators to establish high-capacity communication links within days, or even hours.
Unlike traditional network deployments, Lightbridge does not require trenching, spectrum licences, or extensive civil engineering work. This makes it well-suited for urban centres, rural communities, and difficult terrain.
Future Growth in Nigerian Cities
Following the success of the Lagos deployment, Taara and Liquid Intelligent Technologies are evaluating opportunities to expand the solution into other major Nigerian cities, including Abuja, Ibadan, and Kano.
