The partnership is designed to create a pathway from academic research to practical technology deployment. This allows emerging ideas to be tested and potentially scaled through real-world projects.

Dr. Yousef Al Assaf, President of RIT Dubai, said the collaboration would give students and faculty greater exposure to the AI and digital transformation projects shaping government and industry in the UAE.

Palmira CEO Jamal AlMahamid said the partnership would serve as a bridge between academic innovation and real-world implementation, combining RIT Dubai’s research and talent with Palmira’s experience in delivering large-scale digital transformation.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Yousef Al Assaf and Jamal AlMahamid, who will co-lead a joint working group responsible for coordinating the implementation of the partnership.

Why It Matters to MENA

The partnership reflects a growing push across the UAE and wider MENA region to connect universities, technology companies, and government institutions around AI and digital transformation.

For the UAE, stronger university-industry collaboration can help address the demand for specialized AI talent while turning academic research into practical solutions for government and businesses.

It also supports the country's broader ambition to strengthen its position as a regional hub for AI, smart government, and emerging technologies.
