Qatar has launched Yalla Startups, its first radio show dedicated to startups and innovation, giving founders a platform to reach consumers, investors, and entrepreneurs.

The initiative is the result of a strategic partnership between Startup Grind Doha and Olive Suno Radio Network (OSRN). It aims to give founders greater visibility while connecting innovative businesses with consumers, investors, entrepreneurs, and small business owners across Qatar.

Broadcast weekly on Radio Olive 106.3 FM and distributed across OSRN's digital ecosystem, including its VoiceCast OTT podcast platform, Yalla Startups will feature in-depth conversations with startup founders, highlighting their entrepreneurial journeys, business challenges, innovations, and growth strategies.

The programme is designed to bridge the gap between startups and the wider community by giving entrepreneurs access to one of Qatar's largest consumer audiences. At the same time, it seeks to strengthen awareness of the country's growing innovation ecosystem by showcasing locally developed products and services to thousands of listeners across traditional radio, podcasts, and digital channels.

Unlike conventional business programmes, Yalla Startups will primarily spotlight business-to-consumer (B2C) startups offering products and services for everyday consumers, alongside startups developing technology solutions that help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) improve efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness.

By introducing these businesses to a broader audience, the programme aims to help founders build brand recognition, attract new customers, validate their products, and accelerate the adoption of homegrown innovation.

Beyond product promotion, Yalla Startups also seeks to educate and inspire aspiring entrepreneurs by sharing authentic founder experiences. Each episode will explore the realities of building a startup from securing early customers and overcoming setbacks to scaling operations and navigating Qatar's evolving entrepreneurial landscape.

Upgrade

The initiative aligns with broader efforts to strengthen Qatar's knowledge-based economy by encouraging innovation, supporting local entrepreneurs, and fostering a stronger startup culture.

Commenting on the launch, Ameer Ali, Founder and Managing Director of Olive Suno Radio Network, said Qatar's startup community deserves sustained visibility across the platforms where audiences consume content today.

"Qatar's startup community deserves more than a moment in the spotlight; it deserves visibility and engagement across every platform where its audience is active. Through Yalla Startups, our partnership with Startup Grind Doha brings founders' stories to life across radio, podcasts, and integrated digital channels.”

Indica Amarasinghe, Chapter Director of Startup Grind Doha, said visibility remains one of the biggest challenges facing early-stage companies.

"Startups need more than funding; they need visibility, customers, and opportunities to tell their story. Yalla Startups creates a unique platform for founders to reach consumers and business owners across Qatar while showcasing the incredible innovation being built locally. Together with Olive Suno Radio Network, we hope to inspire more entrepreneurs and help startups connect with the audiences that matter most."

Why Qatar’s First Startups Show Matters to the GCC

The launch of Yalla Startups signals a new phase in the GCC's startup ecosystem, where media is becoming an active enabler of innovation rather than simply reporting on it. By giving founders regular exposure across radio, podcasts, and digital channels, the programme addresses one of the biggest challenges facing early-stage startups: visibility.

For startups across the GCC, access to customers, partners, and investors is just as important as access to funding. Dedicated media platforms can help accelerate product adoption, strengthen founder credibility, and create stronger connections between entrepreneurs and the wider business community.

The initiative also aligns with the region's economic diversification agendas, including Qatar National Vision 2030, Saudi Vision 2030, and the UAE's innovation strategy, which prioritise entrepreneurship, SMEs, and knowledge-based industries. As Gulf countries compete to become regional innovation hubs, programmes like Yalla Startups demonstrate how media partnerships can play a strategic role in nurturing startup ecosystems, inspiring future entrepreneurs, and attracting greater investment into the region's innovation economy.
