Tribe Techie

Nabta Health has secured PVP backing in its $3M Pre-Series A round to expand AI-powered preventive healthcare for employers, insurers and providers. The investment combines new capital for the business with purchases of existing shares, although PVP has not disclosed its contribution or the amount raised in this closing. The investment also brings a board change, with PVP founder and CEO Steve Khayat joining the company's board as its representative.

Nabta Health Pivot and Expansion

Founded in 2017 by Sophie Smith, Nabta began as a direct-to-consumer women’s health platform. It is now positioning its technology and clinical services as preventive healthcare infrastructure for businesses and healthcare organisations. Nabta combines early disease detection, digital health services and clinical care to help patients identify health risks and navigate their care.

Its AI-supported assistant, Aya, helps users navigate healthcare options, while the company’s wider offering combines digital tools with clinical services. Nabta is now extending this model to employers and insurers looking to offer preventive care and coordinate health services for their members.

Its employer proposition includes preventive care subscriptions, annual health checks and support navigating treatment. The aim is to identify potential health concerns earlier and improve care coordination while helping organisations manage longer-term healthcare costs.

Investment Strategy and Future Growth

The investment comes after years of development across Nabta’s technology, clinical infrastructure and research and development. PVP says the company is now at a stage where the priority can shift towards customer acquisition, sales and strategic partnerships rather than product development alone.

Steve Khayat, founder and CEO of PVP, said the firm intends to work with Nabta’s leadership to strengthen commercial relationships and turn the company’s existing traction into sustainable growth. For Nabta, the capital will support its go-to-market strategy, expansion of its enterprise offering and new relationships across the employer, insurance and healthcare sectors. The transaction also formalises PVP’s longstanding relationship with the startup.

Dr. Mussaad Al-Razouki, a founding investor and former executive chairman who has supported the company since its early days, will leave the board. Khayat will replace him as PVP’s representative. The change comes as the company moves towards a more commercially focused phase, with PVP offering both capital and regional business relationships to support its next stage.

Why it Matters to MENA Healthtech

Nabta’s shift reflects a wider opportunity in regional healthcare technology: selling preventive services through employers, insurers and healthcare providers rather than relying solely on individual consumers. For healthtech startups, enterprise partnerships can provide access to larger groups of patients and more structured routes to market. But they also bring longer sales cycles and the need to demonstrate value to organisations paying for care.

The company's next challenge is to convert its technology and clinical capabilities into repeatable commercial relationships. The PVP investment and board appointment signal that customer acquisition and enterprise growth are now central to the next phase.
