Mozambique has officially launched the Mozambican Association of Artificial Intelligence (AMIA) to drive Mozambique AI innovation, bring stakeholders together, and support national AI and data governance strategies.
The Mozambican Association of Artificial Intelligence (AMIA) was officially launched in Maputo in an event opened by Lourino Chemane, Chairman of the Board of the National Institute of Information and Communication Technologies (INTIC).

The ceremony also included the swearing-in of members of AMIA’s leadership bodies.
The association is expected to serve as a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation while supporting the development and adoption of AI solutions tailored to Mozambique’s economic and social needs.

AI is gaining relevance across several sectors of Mozambique’s economy, including agriculture, healthcare, education, banking, manufacturing, commerce, and public administration.
