The Kuwaiti EdTech startup Dawraty has raised $2M in seed funding to expand its healthcare education, certification, and exam preparation services across the MENA region.
The funding will support Dawraty’s expansion across healthcare education, professional certification, and exam preparation. It will also help strengthen the company's presence in Qatar and other key regional markets.

The deal brings together cross-border Gulf investment and expansion. QDB is backing the venture as Dawraty builds its commercial presence in Qatar.
Growth of the Kuwaiti EdTech startup
Founded by Dr. Ryan Dougherty and Hamad AlThunayan, Dawraty is a bilingual, AI-enabled education technology company. It is primarily focused on healthcare education, professional certification, and exam preparation.
Rather than relying primarily on direct-to-consumer sales, the company works with institutions. This includes universities, medical colleges, professional training academies, hospital groups, school networks, and government training bodies.
Its platform enables institutions to deliver and track accredited learning in both Arabic and English. Dawraty also uses master partnership and reseller agreements to enter new markets through established organizations.
Regional Expansion and Partnerships
The company currently operates across Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Jordan. Institutional partners include Kuwait University, the University of Bahrain, Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance, Belvedere Group, and Johns Hopkins for continuing medical education.
Dawraty secured its first contracted institutional revenue in Qatar after signing a master partnership agreement. In September 2026, the company also signed a reseller agreement with the Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA), bringing its platform to students and professionals in Qatar’s business sector.

The agreements highlight Dawraty’s partnership-led expansion strategy. This allows the business to enter new markets through institutions with established relationships with learners and professionals.
Seed Round Details
The $2 million seed round values Dawraty at $10 million. QDB’s investment followed due diligence conducted through its 2026 Accelerator Program.
The round remains open to additional co-investors until the end of November. This gives the company additional time to bring other investors into the financing.
The QDB investment also reflects growing cross-border capital flows within the Gulf. Development institutions are increasingly supporting technology companies with ambitions beyond their home markets.
Market Significance in MENA
Dawraty’s raise highlights an important opportunity in MENA’s EdTech market: building learning infrastructure that can serve institutions and professionals across borders and in both Arabic and English.
Healthcare and professional education are particularly attractive segments because demand extends beyond traditional classroom learning. Healthcare institutions, universities, and professional bodies require ongoing training, certification, and exam preparation, creating recurring use cases for digital learning platforms.
Dawraty’s institutional model could also help it scale more efficiently across the region. By leveraging established education and training organizations, it avoids the need to acquire individual learners market by market.
The company says it is the only Kuwaiti startup in the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) ecosystem. It now has commercial operations across three DCO founding member states.
Its next phase will depend on converting its growing network of institutional partnerships into sustainable revenue. Simultaneously, it will focus on expanding its platform across healthcare and other professional education markets.
