Dell Technologies and Tahaluf have signed an MoU to explore AI-powered smart city solutions for road conditions, parking enforcement, and public safety across the UAE.

Announced during AI Everything Abu Dhabi, the proposed collaboration combines Dell’s AI and edge computing capabilities with Tahaluf’s in-vehicle technology platform. The aim is to process information closer to where it is captured, helping public agencies identify issues faster without relying on continuous cloud connectivity.

The agreement was signed by Walid Yehia, managing director for South Gulf at Dell Technologies, and Dr. Ahmed Musabbeh Al Kaabi, CEO of Tahaluf.

No specific deployment, government customer, investment amount, or implementation timeline was announced.

Deploying Smart City Solutions in the UAE

The proposed system would use AI-enabled technology installed in vehicles to identify issues such as damaged roads, infrastructure problems, parking violations, and potential public safety events.

Rather than depending entirely on information being sent to remote cloud systems for analysis, edge computing allows data to be processed closer to its source. This can help reduce latency and limit the need for a constant connection to central systems.

For city authorities, the potential benefit is earlier visibility into problems across large urban areas, helping relevant teams prioritise inspections, maintenance, and responses.

The technology could also make existing vehicle fleets more useful for collecting operational information about the environments through which they travel.

Upgrade

Dell contributes its AI infrastructure and edge computing capabilities, while Tahaluf brings the vehicle-based technology platform through which information can be collected and processed.

Tahaluf, an Abu Dhabi-based technology company, provides AI-driven IT and cybersecurity solutions. Its role in the proposed collaboration is to connect Dell’s computing capabilities with the operational environments in which urban data is generated.

Walid Yehia said the partnership could help public-sector organisations identify problems sooner and make more informed decisions about the services residents depend on.

Dr. Ahmed Musabbeh Al Kaabi said combining AI with existing fleet vehicles could give service providers better visibility into urban conditions and help them respond more effectively.

Why it matters to the UAE's smart-city agenda

The agreement reflects a shift towards using AI not only to analyse information already held by public agencies but also to gather and interpret data from the physical environment.

For cities, this could support more responsive road maintenance, parking management, and public safety operations. Processing data at the edge may also help systems work in environments where continuous connectivity is unavailable or impractical.

However, these outcomes will depend on how the proposed technology is implemented, which agencies adopt it, and how alerts are integrated into existing response systems.

The MoU establishes a framework for Dell and Tahaluf to explore AI-powered urban solutions; it does not confirm that the technology has been deployed across UAE cities.

The next milestone will be the identification of specific use cases and public-sector partners, followed by any confirmed pilots or deployments. Those details will determine how the proposed system moves from a technology partnership into practical urban services.
