Cybastion Expands Digital Skills Training Across Africa

Cybastion partners with U.S. Embassies to expand digital skills training, AI, cybersecurity, and professional certification programs for young Africans.

The initiative, delivered through Cybastion’s philanthropic organisation, THEYA Foundation, works with African governments, schools, and youth organisations. Its goal is to provide practical technology training aimed at preparing young people for the digital economy.

The partnership comes as African countries face a growing demand for digitally skilled workers. Many young people continue to encounter limited access to quality technology education, professional certifications, and pathways into digital careers.

Expanding Digital Skills Training Initiatives

Through Africa DigiEmpower, participants receive training in areas including networking, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and broader technical competencies.

In Gabon, the programme is being delivered at the American Corner in Libreville. Participants are undertaking networking training based on the Cisco Networking Academy curriculum.

Learners are preparing for the Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) Networking certification. This helps them develop practical skills in cabling, connectivity, configuration, diagnostics, and network infrastructure.

The approach combines technical training with professional certification. This gives participants credentials that can help strengthen their prospects in an increasingly digital job market.

Technology Camps and Practical Education

In Côte d’Ivoire, Cybastion and the U.S. Embassy recently concluded their second annual summer technology camp, which reached hundreds of young people across 20 cities.

The programme provided training in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital awareness. It exposed participants to technology skills that are becoming increasingly relevant across industries.

U.S. Embassy officials and executives from THEYA Foundation also participated in a ceremony at the U.S. Embassy in Abidjan on July 30 to mark the completion of the first week of AI training.

Cybastion said the technology camps will continue throughout the year. Africa DigiEmpower is expected to expand into additional African countries.

The programme’s focus on practical training and internationally recognised certifications is particularly relevant as businesses across Africa accelerate their adoption of cloud computing, AI, and digital payments.

For young people, access to these skills can provide a pathway into employment and entrepreneurship. This is vital in sectors where demand for qualified talent is growing.
