The agreement, signed at Fintech Forward 2026, creates a framework for both companies to assess new markets. They plan to identify potential commercial opportunities and engage financial institutions, regulators, and government entities abroad.

Scaling International Fintech Opportunities

No specific country, product, or international deployment has been announced yet. However, the agreement marks a shift from serving Bahrain’s domestic market toward exploring where its digital-finance infrastructure could compete globally.

Beyon Connect provides digital identity and digital enablement solutions. Meanwhile, BENEFIT operates financial technology services spanning payments, credit information, and electronic transactions.

The companies will assess where those capabilities could work together. This includes potential applications across financial services and other regulated digital environments.

Strategic Collaboration Framework

Under the agreement, Beyon Connect and BENEFIT will:

  • Assess international markets and potential business opportunities.

  • Exchange relevant market knowledge and insights.

    Growth Beyond the Domestic Market

Richard Budel, CEO of Beyon Connect, said the companies could extend Bahrain’s digital capabilities into new markets by combining their respective strengths.

Abdulwahed AlJanahi, chief executive of BENEFIT, said the agreement creates a basis for identifying opportunities where the two companies can add value outside Bahrain.

The agreement comes as Bahrain’s fintech sector looks beyond the domestic market for its next phase of growth. Its relatively compact home market makes international expansion an important route for digital companies seeking larger customer bases.

Why it Matters to MENA Fintechs

The partnership points to a broader shift in the region: fintech growth is increasingly moving from building domestic platforms to exporting capabilities across borders.

For MENA fintech companies, that means established expertise in areas such as identity, payments, and financial data can become a foundation for regional expansion. It serves as more than just a service for customers in the home market.

The next meaningful development will be a concrete market entry, customer partnership, or product built from the framework agreed upon by the two companies.
